Tigers are found in rainforests, grasslands, savannas, and sometimes even mangrove swamps. They live in the following countries: Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malysia, Thailand, China, Russia, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, and India.
Tigers eat between 10 and 25 pounds of meat in one day. They are carnivores, which means they only eat meat. There are six subspecies of tiger: Siberian tigers, Bengal tigers, South China tigers, Sumatran tigers, Indochinese tigers, and Malayan tigers. There are three other subspecies that are now listed as extinct: Bali tigers, Caspian tigers, and Javar tigers.
In the wild, there are about 5,000 tigers left. There are another 8,000 tigers living in captivity, making 13,000 tigers left in the whole world. Their population is so small because they're endangered. Tigers are mainly endangered because of habitat loss. Humans cut down forests, as well as build roads and other development activities, destroying the tigers' habitats.
